  • The number of students of the Pontifical University of Salamanca who are going to study abroad continues to increase this academic year 2022-2023, after the decrease suffered by the pandemic

A total of 94 UPSA students enjoy an academic stay abroad, thanks to the Erasmus and international exchange scholarships. The number of applications in both mobility calls continues to increase for this academic year, after the fall suffered in the 20/21 academic year, due to the resignations caused by the alarm situation created by COVID-19.

This course, 68 students study (between 3 to 10 months) in one of the 60 European universities with which the UPSA has agreements. Likewise, 26 students from the Pontifical University of Salamanca enjoy a stay abroad (from 4 to 9 months) in one of the partner universities in the United States, Canada, Uruguay, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Puerto Rico, India or Taiwan.

The number of students who take part in international mobility programs at UPSA during the 2022-2023 academic year slightly exceeds the figures for previous academic periods such as the 2019-2020 and 2018-2019 academic years. Mobility with a European destination

UPSA students have chosen different universities for this academic year, according to their academic training in countries such as Slovenia, Belgium, France, Italy or Portugal. Scholarships for non-European destinations

UPSA students who carry out a mobility to a non-European destination can opt for an Erasmus KA131 scholarship for international mobility or a Santander Student Ambassador scholarship.

An example of this is the case of Mónica Nieto, Psychology student which is already being trained at the Catholic University of Salta in Argentina. «Since I was little, my mother instilled in me that discovering the world was the best thing I could do in my youth; that this would open my mind and give me another perspective for the rest of my life», it states. Thanks to the alliance between UPSA and Banco Santander, Mónica has been able to live ten months in Italy and, currently, she is studying her second month at the Argentine institution. «The truth is that it doesn’t matter where you go, nor the destination you choose for your exchange, because it is an experience that will change your whole life», concludes.

The Pontifical University of Salamanca is increasingly attractive to foreign students who come from other universities, thanks to the offer of courses taught in English. The number of incoming students has increased gradually since 2019, except in the 20220-2021 academic year, in which the confinement due to COVID-19 and the cancellation of trips abroad occurred.
