The Spanish club Athletic Bilbao is able to sign defender Erik Laporte, after the Football Association changed its position, compared to 10 million euros for victory, while the player waived his dues of 7.5 million euros, according to “Economic” sources.

The Basque club tried to sign the Spanish defender from the Saudi Al -Nasr Club on September 1, but the transfer was not completed before the transfer market officially closed in Spain.

Last week, the International Federation rejected its Spanish counterpart’s request to grant an exception to the transfer deal to Laport, but Talak confirmed that the request was now accepted after continuous efforts by the local federation to reconsider the decision.

According to Spanish media, Al -Nasr Club did not introduce the details of the deal via the FIFA electronic platform to match the transfer (TMS).

“The Athletic club would like to report that” FIFA “has granted the Spanish Football Association to authorize the international transfer certificate from the Saudi Football Association,” Athletic Bilbao, who is participating in the Champions League this season.

“Once the transfer certificate is issued, we can officially register Emeric Laporte on the ranks of Athletic,” the statement added.

Laport, winner of the European Cup with Spain in 2024, previously played with Bilbao between 2012 and 2018. Then he signed a contract with Manchester City and crowned the Champions League title in 2023 before joining Al -Nasr for 27.5 million euros.
