Tensions in the Middle east have reached a boiling point after the United States launched a series of attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities.The strikes, executed under the direction of US President Donald Trump, mark a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.

The attacks have drawn immediate condemnation from Iranian President Peseschkian, who described them as an act of “aggression.” Peseschkian stated that the US intervention demonstrates its role as the primary instigator behind the “hostile actions of the Zionist regime against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” suggesting the United States stepped in after Israel’s “obvious inability” to achieve its objectives.

Revolutionary Guard Warns of Retaliation

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, an elite branch of the Iranian military, has characterized US military bases in the region as “points of vulnerability,” rather than strategic advantages. The Guard warned that the United States should anticipate retaliatory measures in response to the attacks, asserting that Iran’s nuclear program cannot be eradicated through military force. Following the US strikes, the Revolutionary Guard reportedly launched dozens of rockets into Israel, resulting in approximately 90 injuries, according to Israeli sources.

“The events of this morning are outrageous and will have permanent consequences.”

Amidst the escalating conflict, reports indicate that the Iranian parliament is considering withdrawing from the nuclear weapons non-proliferation treaty. Sara Fallahi, a member of parliament’s security committee, told the Tasnim news agency that a special session of the committee would address the potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Though, fallahi did not specify a date for the meeting.

Adding to the regional instability, the Huthi militia in Yemen, an ally of Iran, has threatened to target both civilian and military vessels from the united States in the Red Sea. The Huthis have denounced the US strikes on Iran as a “declaration of war.”

Details of the Nightly Attack

The United States initiated its attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities on Saturday evening, directly entering the conflict between Israel and Iran. Israel had previously launched a major offensive against Iran on June 13, targeting military installations and other sites, citing concerns over Iran’s nuclear program. Since then, Iran has responded with rocket and drone attacks against Israel.

US Claims “Remarkable and Overwhelming Success”

Following the attacks, US President Donald Trump declared that “decisive plants for uranium enrichment” in Iran had been entirely destroyed. The IAEA resident in Vienna reported that there was no release of radiation outside of the facilities.

US Defense Minister Pete Hegseth described the operation as an “incredible and overwhelming success,” asserting that no other military in the world could have achieved the same outcome. Initial assessments suggest that the three targeted Iranian nuclear facilities sustained extensive damage and destruction.

Hegseth and Chief of Staff Dan Caine confirmed that B-2 fighter aircraft and bunker-buster bombs were used during “Midnight Hammer.” Caine specified that the squadron deployed two GBU-57 bombs against the underground nuclear facility at Fordo.Submarine-launched missiles were also used. Caine emphasized that US armed forces remain at “high readiness” to counter any potential retaliatory attacks from Iran.

US Warns Iran Against Retaliation

Trump issued a stern warning to Iran against retaliating against US bases in the region. “If peace does not come quickly, we will attack the other destinations with precision, speed and skill, most of them can be switched off in a few minutes,” Trump stated. He said that the goal of the United States was to eliminate Iran’s capacity to enrich uranium and end the nuclear threat posed by what he called the “largest state sponsor of terror worldwide.”
