Castel del Piano’s Youth Council: A Model for Civic Education

In a commendable effort to bridge this gap,Castel del Piano has established a vibrant City Council for Girls and Boys. During its inaugural session, young councilors were officially appointed, each entrusted with specific responsibilities. This initiative provides a unique platform for young people to interact directly with local leaders, such as mayor Cinzia Pieraccini and Deputy Mayor Arianna Arezzini, fostering a deeper understanding of local governance.

This council represents a sort of youth parliament locally, where children have the opportunity to express their opinions, ideas and proposals on issues that concern their territory and their daily life.

The council comprises students from the fourth to eighth grades, elected in April 2024. During their meetings, the young councilors confirm their roles, assign delegations, and collaboratively develop proposals to present to the municipal management. Leadership Roles and responsibilities

The Youth Council is led by Mayor Vittoria Bargagli, who also oversees school services. Deputy Mayor Greta Forti is responsible for preserving the history and traditions of the region. Other councilors include Giorgio Luca (Civic Education), Domitilla di Donato (Ecology and Environmental Improvement), and Emma Rossi (Sports and Leisure). Additional councilors, including Samuele Cassani, Gabriele Giglioni, aurora Bindi, and others, contribute their unique perspectives and ideas to the council’s work.
