Nicolas Cage, renowned Hollywood actor, has emerged as a vocal critic of generative artificial intelligence (AI), dubbing its rise in the arts world as “disturbing.”
Cage’s concerns were highlighted when he won the Best Actor award for Dream Scenario at the Saturn Awards. During his acceptance speech, he emphasized his fears about AI’s impact on the authenticity of creative expression.

“I am a big believer in not letting robots dream for us,” Cage stated.
“Robots cannot reflect the human condition for us. If actors let AI manipulate their performances, even slightly, we risk losing the integrity and truth of art, reducing it to mere financial gain.”

In a scathing critique, legendary animator Hayao Miyazaki has described AI as “an insult to life itself.”
Conversely, some industry leaders view AI as a transformative tool. Directors like James Cameron and Zack Snyder, and actors like Andy Serkis, see AI as a new form of creative magic that can enhance rather than replace human artistry.
