Yet another 5. magnitude earthquake struck Balut Island, Sarangani Metropolis, Davao Occidental Province on Saturday evening, Jan.22, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) mentioned.
Primarily based on the earthquake bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor transpired about 9:49 pm, with the epicenter traced 340 kilometers (km) southeast of Balut Island, Sarangani, Davao Occidental.
The quake happened at a depth of 19 km.
Phivolcs has not recorded any data on the intensity of this individual earthquake thanks to its length offshore.
Just before the 5. magnitude earthquake transpired, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake was also recorded Saturday morning near the island of Balut.
Phivolcs mentioned there was no risk of a tsunami hitting the place just after the enormous 6.1 magnitude earthquake transpired.
Even so, he recommended the general public to continue being vigilant as aftershocks could manifest.
