1. A Victim Sustained Severe Injuries
The Police Commander of Kelapa Gading, Commander Seto Handoko, reported that a person was badly injured during the altercation. The victim suffered injuries to his head, ear, and mouth, lost three front teeth, and had general body trauma.
“The victim, M, experienced extensive injuries including broken skull, torn ear, missing teeth, facial lacerations, and bodily bruises,” stated Commander Seto.
2. Trash Fire Provoked the Clash
The dispute initiated when one group, identified as Group MO, set fire to trash on their occupied land. The victim, along with two companions, arrived to express disapproval of this action, which inadvertently triggered the conflict.
“Victim M noticed the smoke on the day of the incident and approached the neighboring property to address the issue, causing distress to his relative who suffers from asthma,” explained Commander Seto.
3. Victims Attacked with Wooden Pole
Upon reaching the site of Group MO, the victims were brutally attacked with a wooden pole that had nails protruding from its tip, causing serious injuries to the victim.
“When reaching Group MO’s encampment, the victims were suddenly beaten from behind with a nail-studded wooden rod,” related Commander Seto.
The ordeal led them to seek medical attention. Subsequently, the victim’s relative inquired about his well-being, only to be confronted by three individuals who chased and attacked them.

4. Two Suspects Arrested
The police and TNI swiftly secured the area and apprehended two suspects, MP (age 42) and MB (age 41), who were involved in the attack. Upon questioning, the suspects admitted to beating the victim with a wooden rod with nails.
“The suspects were apprehended early morning at a location near the incident site,” Commander Seto stated.
“They admitted that they struck the victim with a wooden pole with nails twice, aimed at the back of his head,” he added.
5. Ongoing Dispute Over Land
It turns out that both groups were occupying a contested plot divided by a pile of debris. The land, used as a dumping ground, sparked the conflict between the two parties.
“The area was a disputed ground, divided by a pile of debris. Both groups saw it as a garbage dump,” Commander Seto explained.
The crime scene yielded additional evidence, including a wooden rod, a rubber-covered rod with nails, and a hoe staining with the victim’s blood.
The suspects are still under investigation at the Kelapa Gading Police station.
