Lhe average number of coronavirus infections rose to 371 per day between July 21 and 27, Frédérique Jacobs, the French-speaking interfederal spokesperson, said on Friday. “This represents an increase of 62% from the previous week,” she added.
“There are reports of severely ill young people, and we do not know the long-term effects,” warned the Crisis Center.

The number of hospital admissions is on the rise with 18.7 admissions per day (17.7 Thursday), up 34% from the previous week.
The Crisis Center also reported an average of 2.7 deaths per day, down 10% over a week.
The number of infections in Belgium now stands at 68,006, against 67,335 on Thursday.
The number of new cases of Covid-19 per 100,000 inhabitants is also continuing to rise. For the period spanning two weeks, and until July 27 inclusive, 36.5 cases were identified (against 33.1 Thursday).
As a reminder, in Belgium, 9,840 people have lost their lives as a result of Covid-19 since the start of the epidemic.
