Fulbright Spain convenes up to a maximum of 13 places for spanish readers in American universities within the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistants (FLTA) program for the 2023-2024 academic year for a total period of nine months.
This program has an endowment of $4,000 Americans plus the complementary aid offered by each university in terms of accommodation, maintenance or stipend. It also includes accident and illness insurance.
The scholarship aims to “offer an opportunity to gain experience in teaching Spanish, as well as to learn deeply about American society and culture,” they explain from Fulbright.
That is why the participants, in addition to having responsibilities as teachers, attend university study subjects and participate in extracurricular activities. It is done in colleges of recognized academic tradition with a reduced number of students.

The submission deadline for requests is open between September 5, 2022 to October 10, 2022.

– Higher degree with work experience or accredited training in language teaching.
– Good level of English demonstrable with TOEFL exam (minimum 90), IELTS (minimum 6.5), Duolingo (minimum 110)
– Flexibility, adaptability and willingness to collaborate with the department to which they join in the destination institution.
Duration and endowment of the Fulbright Scholarship for Spanish readers
The program establishes an academic year of 9 months, without the possibility of renewal. This period will be between August or September 2023 and May or June 2024, depending on the calendar of the destination institution.
It is endowed with a number of $4,000 for general and travel expenses. Likewise, the destination institutions contribute a monthly amount that usually varies between 350 and 900 dollars depending on the cost of living in the place of destination.
To this is added that the institutions themselves usually provide accommodation y maintenance on campus itself. And if they don’t, they offer a higher monthly stipend.
Fulbright, which also provides sickness and accident insurance, guarantees that in all cases the institution’s offer plus the scholarship contribution are sufficient to cover costs of readers during their stay in the US
