Mexico registered 6,995 new infections of covid-19 on Wednesday to reach a new record of daily cases with which it has accumulated 275,003 infected since the start of the pandemic, reported the health authorities cited by Efe.
The 6,995 confirmed cases registered on this day are the highest number for a day since the 6,914 infections on July 4 last, in what was a reporting streak of over 6,000 cases, with 6,741 on July 2 and 6,740 on the 3rd of July.
In the last 24 hours, the Mexican health authorities reported 782 deaths from covid-19, bringing the country to 32,796.
The undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell, assured that the epidemic in Mexico continues to slow down, although it is obviously still active.
“The fact that the number of cases increases does not mean that the epidemic is accelerating. It is one thing that the epidemic continues in the growing phase and another is that the speed at which this increase occurs is increasingly slower,” López-Gatell said. .
Mexico is in its sixth week of the so-called “new normal”.
