In the Austrian city of Gerasdorf-by-Vin, a Russian was shot dead, according to the Austrian Press Agency with reference to the police.
According to a representative of the department, Walter Schwarzenecker, the victim was an asylum seeker, he had a Russian passport. “Probably a Chechen,” OFR radio quoted him as saying.
According to OE24, the man was killed in the evening of July 4 with a shot to the head. The incident occurred near one of the city’s shopping centers.
The alleged offender was detained a few hours later, his car was stopped in the city of Linz. Police believe the shooter is also a native of Chechnya, Schwarzenecker said. During the detention, the man did not resist.

Schwarzenecker told TASS that the victim was 43 years old. He noted that both the shot and the alleged offender are Russian citizens, but could not provide data on their nationalities, the agency reports. Police have not yet determined the cause of the murder.
According to sources from Kavkaz Reales, the victim was a native of Chechnya Mamikhan Umarov. The Caucasian Knot also writes about this. Publications report that Umarov consistently criticized the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, and hosted a YouTube channel in the Chechen language under the name Anzor from Vienna.
