TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo urged caution in the growing number of COVID-19 cases. Today, July 9, Indonesia has registered 2,657 new infections.
“I have to remember because I think it’s already a red light. Today, the national increase in positive cases has reached 2,657, “said the president, via teleconference from the COVID-19 central Kalimantan mitigation post at Palangka Raya on Thursday July 9.
He demanded that all regions remain vigilant and continue to control the transmission of the virus, including the province of central Kalimantan, despite the low infection rate. The latest data showed that the province had 23 new positive cases, bringing the national death toll to 1,096, with 484 recoveries and 65 deaths.
“But if this small number is not well controlled, the crisis management is not carried out, and people have not asked to cooperate, be careful, the figure that I mentioned may possibly increase”, added Jokowi.
The number of positive COVID-19 cases in Indonesia as of Thursday, July 9, reached 70,736. Up to 32,651 patients have recovered, while the death toll has reached 3,417.
