The Ministry of Health of the Nation reported this Saturday that During the last 24 hours, 44 deaths and 2,590 new positive cases for coronavirus were recorded. With this data, the total number of infected in the whole country amounts to 75,376 and the fatal victims add up to 1,481.
Of all those cases, 1,069 (1.4%) are imported, 26,548 (35.2%) are close contacts of confirmed cases, 35,186 (46.7%) are cases of community circulation and the rest are under epidemiological investigation.
In the morning report 16 new deaths were recorded. 10 men, 6 of 67, 76, 73, 82, 76 and 48 years old, from the province of Buenos Aires; 3 of 73, 61 and 82 years, from the city of Buenos Aires; one of 72 years, from Neuquén; and 6 women, 4 of 85, 56, 88 and 75 years, also from the province of Buenos Aires; two of 97 and 90 years, of Federal Capital.
In the evening report 28 more new deaths were reported. 10 men, 4 of 68, 85, 66 and 70 years, from the province of Buenos Aires; 3 of 82, 75 and 84 years, from the city of Buenos Aires; two of 63 and 64 years, from Chaco; one of 76 years, from Santa Fe; and 18 women, 12 of 60, 90, 92, 54, 88, 80, 83, 84, 74, 75, 85 and 76 years, from the province of Buenos Aires; 5 of 85, 94, 74, 83 and 71 years, of Federal Capital; and a 33 year old, from Chaco.
Of the new 2,590 cases, 1,517 from the province of Buenos Aires, 899 from the city of Buenos Aires, 53 from Chaco, 28 from Río Negro, 20 from Neuquén, 16 from Salta, 14 from Jujuy, 13 from Córdoba, 5 from Entre Ríos, 5 from Santa Fe , 5 from Catamarca, 5 from La Rioja, 4 from Tierra del Fuego, 4 from Mendoza, 1 from San Luis and 1 from Tucumán.
Yesterday 8,951 new samples were made and since the beginning of the outbreak, 390,382 diagnostic tests were carried out for this disease, which is equivalent to 8,603 samples per million inhabitants. The number of cases discarded until yesterday is 250,545 (by laboratory and by clinical / epidemiological criteria).
The main affected age groups of the registered cases correspond to people between 20 and 59 years old, with an average age of 36 years. To the date, the total number of discharges is 25,930 people.
The Minister of Health, Ginés González García, affirmed today that “the possibility of advancing in a more flexible quarantine” as of July 17 it depends on “doing things right” and that decisions will be made “a few days before” the date.
“We are not stupid and we also know the difficulties and sacrifices of Argentines. We understand that it is necessary to return to normality as soon as possible, but without the collaboration of the people none of this will do. Many countries did the same and did not collaborate and did not fare well, ”said the minister.
Carla Vizzotti, Secretary of Access to Health of the Nation, headed this Saturday the daily report issued by the health authority to account for the epidemiological situation. The official noted that 93% of the people attended in critical care units are in sanatoriums in the city and province of Buenos Aires.
The index that measures the amount of infected detected on the tests carried out yesterday was 38% national average, with a positivity of 41.7% in the City, 45% in the metropolitan region of the province of Buenos Aires, and 18.3 % in the rest of the country.
“Yesterday ended the third stage of antibody studies of people who circulate in public transport. 405 were performed at the Once train terminal and there were 11 positives. If we compare it with April and May when 2,610 tests were carried out with 10 positives, which gave a 2.5% positivity, we see that today it quintupled from the other test ”, indicated Vizzotti.
The official confirmed that this Saturday a contingent of doctors traveled to Chaco, with two assistant experts from the Ministry of Health and the President to see the progress of epidemiology work and the control of COVID-19 cases.
In the world, 11,099,645 people were infected with coronavirus. Of the total, 525,554 patients died and 5,896,379 managed to recover.
