Because of the corona crisis, public life is practically silent. That is why the municipalities have to make do with less money. In an interview, City Council President Burkhard Jung explains how they can survive this.
Mr. Jung, where are we currently reaching you?
I am in my Leipzig office, I just finished the crisis team meeting that we did today as a video conference. We meet every day at ten o’clock. The health department, fire brigade, police and regulatory office report on the situation and we can react immediately.
Your work is currently fully focused on crisis?
Yes and no The pandemic is a priority, but of course the other things keep going. Kindergartens are being built, schools are being renovated, roads are being renovated. At the moment, I am very much in conference calls.
