Almost 60 golfers celebrate the season premiere at the GC Odenwald. A total of 715 euros will be earned for children with cancer and chronic illnesses.
KIRCHBROMBACH – The WCG tour in Kirchbrombach celebrated a successful start. The 6th edition of the Wiest Charity Golf Tour (WCG) started the new season with the traditional “monthly cup” at the golf club Odenwald in good weather. The tournament has been very popular for many years – and so again the response from the participants was very high this year. A total of almost 60 golfers had gathered on the course in the Brombach Valley to play golf for a good cause in the best summer weather.
When the first time started at 9.20 a.m., the temperatures were already very pleasant. The participants were provided with food from the club restaurant “Nouvelle” in advance and were impressed by the good general conditions of the tournament. Of course, the organizer meticulously observed the specified distance rules and the required hygiene measures during the implementation. After a full tournament day, the last golfers returned to the clubhouse around 5 p.m.
A total of six birdies, 169 pars and 166 bogeys provided for benefits of 395 euros, which benefit the association for children with cancer and chronic illnesses in Darmstadt / Rhein-Main-Neckar. Subsequently, the athletes donated another 320 euros, so that a total of 715 euros flows into the charity pot at the first tournament.
At the award ceremony, which took place outside the restaurant to ensure the appropriate safety distances, the winners of the gross class, handicap classes A to C and the winners of the special ratings were delighted to receive prizes from the tour partners.
Since no special ratings may be played due to the corona regulations, a tour team member was assigned to play the “Nearest to the Pin” under the specified hygiene rules. In addition, the “Longest Drive” competition was replaced by a specially created “masterPUTT Challenge”, so that prizes could also be presented to the winners in the special ratings. The winners of the gross class, Claudia Berger (GC Dillenburg) and Jürgen Hahn (Kiawah GC Riedstadt), also received tickets for the final tournament at the Gernsheim golf resort.
After the first four tournaments of the charity golf tour had to be postponed due to the corona pandemic, it was possible to reschedule two of the tournaments: The “8th Greenkeeper Cup meets WCGTour ”will now take place on July 18 (Saturday) and the“ 3rd TONIS Gastro Cup meets WCGTour ”on August 2nd (Sunday). Both tournaments are held at the Golf Club Traisa in Darmstadt.
