The board of directors of Barcelona, meeting this Thursday night electronically, has confirmed that it will undertake work files in the various levels of the club due to the economic problems derived from the paralysis of all competitions due to the coronavirus pandemic. He has not detailed the figures of the salary reductions that will affect his workers, but he did make clear he will present the files to the “Generalitat once the club has shared with all its personnel, sports and non-sports, all aspects related to these measures, and its scope ».

Barça, therefore, has been given a margin to try to reach an agreement with the players, although it is already clear that ERTE, a term not used literally as such in the statement, is safe. The measure will help, but it will not solve the problem because Barça is the club that enters the most for commercial reasons and, therefore, it will be the one that loses the most due to the current situation.

The club explained in its statement that “basically it is a reduction of the working day, imposed by the circumstances and the protection measures carried out, and, as a consequence, of the proportional reduction of the remuneration provided in the respective contracts, measures that the club wants to implement scrupulously following formal labor standards, under the criteria of proportionality, and above all equity, and with the sole objective of resuming the club’s activity as soon as possible.

According to sources from the club cited by Mundo Deportivo, it would be a reduction in salary without distinction between each professional staff, including basketball, handball and roller hockey, and in principle 70% from March 13 and until the activity returns. From then on, players will receive 100% of the chip again even if some competition is terminated. The measure will also be retroactive. For the rest of the sports personnel, the idea is to make an ERTE that must be agreed with the unions, without retroactive character, more guarantee.
